Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play

Bryn Mawr College Theatre Program
Supervised by Amy Radbill, Theatre Production Manager

These materials were designed for the Bi-Co Theatre Program's semester show—Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play.

Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play tells the story of a group of people who find each other in a post-electric world and try to recall the "Cape Feare" episode from The Simpsons. Naturally, the materials for this play were heavily influenced by the iconic imagery of The Simpsons, as seen through the iterations focusing on the iconic Simpsons hairstyles. To personalise the designs to the post-electric play rather than to the TV show, I disguised Marge's hair as a plume of smoke coming from a nuclear silo.

Whilst the design process was explored digitally, to keep in the spirit of the post-electric world, posters were screenprinted. To accommodate for this, two versions of poster designs were created, one more simple than the other to make for easier screenprinting (the red poster). For these post-electric posters, the background was screenprinted, the main title was stenciled on, and all other text was scrawled by hand.
